Welcome to the homepage of Max Fabian Riedel

I am a post doc in the quantum atom optics group of Prof. P. Treutlein at the University of Basel. My research interests include but are not limited to atom optics, ultracold atoms, atom chips, atomic clocks, multiparticle entanglement, and quantum computation.

I studied physics at the University of Würzburg before I received my master degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where I worked in the group of Prof. M. G. Raizen on the elastic slowing of supersonic beams. In 2007, I joined T. W. Hänsch's group at the LMU and MPQ in Munich as a PhD student on the microwave nearfield potential experiment under the supervision of P. Treutlein. I graduated summa cum laude from the LMU in the fall of 2010.

In my spare time I listen to and play a wide variety of music, ranging from classical over jazz to progressive rock. I also enjoy photography and traveling. To see some of my photographs and listen to music I have made, go to the link page.
